Building a self-managed organisation begins, initially, from the inside out. The founder establishes the organisational framework and determines which decisions can already be made in a self-organised manner and which will initially remain with him. This is often set out in a delegation matrix.
Subsequently, the first central groups emerge step by step, for example for strategy and vision, shared services or organisation-wide coordination. The handover of responsibility takes place gradually. As experience grows and the system proves its worth in day-to-day operations, more and more decision-making authority is transferred to colleagues.
