The diagram ‘Theme-centred objection integration tool’ illustrates a tool that can be used to collect objections and ideas in a structured manner within larger groups and integrate them into a proposed decision. It combines the Consent principle with Theme-Centred Interaction (TCI). All contributions are categorised according to four perspectives: I (personal concerns), We (team), Organisation (shared purpose) and Context (society and the environment). Different colours are used to distinguish between questions, suggestions and minor or serious objections. The closer a contribution is placed to the centre, the more important it is for the decision. The method brings different perspectives to light without unnecessarily slowing down the process. Particularly in larger groups, it helps to harness tensions constructively, keep the organisation’s purpose in mind and develop decisions that are safe enough for everyone involved to try out.
