The coordination group comprising representatives is a model suited to larger or more complex organisations where it is no longer possible for every individual group to be directly represented. Rather than all the groups concerned sending their own representatives, similar groups form interest groups. Each group appoints a joint representative who consolidates their concerns within the coordination group and relays information back to the participating groups.
This model is particularly suitable for scaling larger organisations, such as those with regionally distributed units or many similar business groups. It reduces the effort involved in coordination and enables coordination without the central body becoming too large and unwieldy.
This form of representation is less suitable for small organisations or for issues that require direct technical consultation amongst all those involved. The additional layer of mediation can otherwise lead to a loss of information or inadequate representation of specific interests. The key challenge lies in striking a good balance between efficient coordination and sufficient proximity to the groups involved.
