6. Contact person either for specific topics or for specific other groups

The diagram shows a contact person as a simple, non-constitutive link between circles or roles. It facilitates communication and coordination without creating a formal link through representatives. A contact person may be appointed either for a specific subject area (e.g. payroll) or as an interface between two circles. They consolidate enquiries, pass on information and support collaboration.

Unlike a single connector, however, they are not a member of the other circle and have neither voting rights nor decision-making authority there. They act on behalf of their own circle but do not create a formal organisational link. The advantage lies in its simplicity: communication channels become clear without the need to set up additional meetings or structures. The disadvantage is that it leads to less shared understanding and no direct involvement in the other circle.

A contact person is therefore suitable for exchanging information and coordinating technical matters. Where there is close collaboration with shared responsibility, however, a single or double connector is the more appropriate solution.
